Gissat was commissioned by the Emergency International’s African Network of Medical Excellence to undertake the annual environmental compliance audits for the children’s surgical hospital and attendant components and the centre of Excellency in Pediatric Surgery following the National Environment (Audit) Regulations, 2020. The organization is situated on plot 120-122 Bishop Dustan Nsubuga Road, Banga -Nakiwogo Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.
The main goal of the organization is to provide free of charge high-quality healthcare to war and poverty victims together with the promotion of a culture of solidarity peace and respect for human rights. EMERGENCY also; i)Guarantees treatment to anyone in need of assistance, without any sort of discrimination; ii)Practices high-quality medicine and employs standardized therapeutic and working protocols already tested in emergencies; iii)Trains local staff thoroughly, until the complete operational independence is achieved. |
Gissat conducted an iterative process of information gathering, alternative development, and impact identification. The first step in this phase was reviewing the ESIA report for this project.
The second step was contacting relevant government agencies to inform them of the process and obtain their cooperation and any other information including the potential issues they deem important, and other concerns or desires for this project.
This information was used to create informational exhibits of known social, economic, and ecological issues in the project affected area to inform the audit process.
